Waiting for a mast - July 8, 2023

Updated: Aug 14, 2023

Its been a slow couple of weeks - we scaled down the projects, but I have ordered some parts to wrap up the few we wanted to finish (breakers and outlets). We took some time off and enjoyed the fourth of July holiday - Michael was off Monday and Tuesday so we had a nice long weekend together. Wednesday and Thursday Bean and I ran some errands, but didn't really tackle anything else. It has been a nice break to catch our breath while we wait for our mast.

Yesterday I did start doing a bit of work - mostly putting the boat back together since I don't need it taken so far apart for the remaining work now ;-)

I put the wood around the window in the head back together - it isn't perfect, but I did my best - that was a learning experience when I was removing it. I also re-installed the trim in the galley and removed the dc to dc charger that had been installed my berth.

After that, I just relaxed :-)

This morning, I saw our heron friend walking behind the boat, enjoying a morning stroll. Bean actually got a short video of him eating a fish the other day.

Side note... we did get the wood back from the 'wood worker'... if you can call him that. Thankfully, he didn't charge us since he took two weeks longer than originally promised, and didn't deliver anything like what I asked. We were looking for a piece that would fit in place of the existing bottom board, with holes for the two hose connections. He put the holes too far out to be useful (I asked him to put them inside the 'seams' you can see on the board below - we even gave him the existing board as a template while he worked...) - we couldn't connect the hoses to them if we tried to use it, and he didn't put the tongue on the top so it could be used with the other boards... So, that will be going in the trash unfortunately.

We are still hoping to get word next week that our mast is ready, and then we will head up to Seabrook the following week to get it all re-assembled and then take a few days to go sail and enjoy the boat. Until then, I plan to finish cleaning up the inside of the boat, maybe remove some of the stuff and move it to storage or the apartment, and hopefully start putting together my main breaker - not connected yet, but get the new breakers installed in it, run the wires for them and get it ready to be mounted and installed.

Should be another pretty relaxing week, a little work here and there, but hoping the following week is amazing, fingers crossed!
