Today was a day of remembering to celebrate the small achievements...
I set out to replace the fuel gauge today. It sounds like an easy job, maybe an hour - take out the old one, put in the new exact replacement. At the end of the day, the old one still sits in its spot.
Before removing the old one, I had to figure out how to take apart the boards that rest on top of the fuel tanks. When they were last installed, they were installed off center, so you cannot reach all of the screws. That was my win for today - I figured out how to disconnect all the necessary screws and plates to allow the wood panels to move.
Then I set out to remove the existing one. Unfortunately, the screws were stuck fast. I did manage to get two of the screws moving through various tools and trying, but the others were stuck fast. I even reached out to hubby for an assist (I tried googling screw removal, but was having trouble wading the different options and figuring out which ones wouldn't ruin my diesel fuel). The tool he suggested was not on board the boat sadly - so today ended with only a small win. Tomorrow is a new day, and the goal, once again, will be to replace that fuel gauge.
In other news, Bean got all but one of the grab rails cleaned, and when I ran out to get the tool I needed, I got the items she needed to start oiling them. We are excited to finish up the cleaning and maybe start the oiling tomorrow :-)
As we were cleaning up, we ran into one of the other newer tenants, who was trying to get his boat back into his new slip. Unfortunately, he had water in his diesel, so his engine was not running, but he had the dinghy all tied up to the side, and with Bean's help (and strength), backed/pulled the boat into the slip and got her tied off. Made a couple new friends, and then went back to the boat to relax.
We celebrated her win and mine with sandwiches, and vodka seven up mixers, and now it is time to sleep so we can face the day tomorrow.
