Girls Get It Done - June 3, 2023

Michael is on call this weekend, so Bean and I decided to keep working through the weekend since it was a slow week. Last night we came back to the boat so we could start early, and while we were relaxing, our little buddy Fred came out to say hi! He has been living on our boat for a couple months and occasionally makes an appearance - Bean fed him a fly one time so I think he likes us. He is just a little bit bigger than a dime. Michael says we are crazy, but we told him Fred eats the bugs and not us, so he can stay!

We got up bright and early today - about 6:30 - which is very early for anyone that knows me ;-) - and discovered that the morning dew REALLY wanted to move our nice prepped tape around!

Bean still had to trim the corners, so she did her best to round things out without moving the tape and dried it slightly as she went. I followed behind and did the sanding and another round of drying. And then wrapped up with a fresh towel and gave it one more wipe down.

Today we switched roles, so Bean poured the paint and pulled most of the tape while I did the brushing and rolling. It is definitely an art, and I can tell where I got the hang of it ;-) (but most people probably can't!). We wrapped up around 9:30, and then went to take a dip in the pool.

Tomorrow we plan to do a smaller section - we will split the starboard side into smaller sections so we can prep and paint all in one day so we avoid the dew problem. We still expect to wrap up all the non skid by the end of the week. In between, I'll start working on mounting some of the electrical items since that will not be in the direct sun like working on the deck. I am hoping to make a lot more progress this week. After spending most of last week at the apartment, I want to get Michael back on the boat as soon as we can - realistically, that is probably sometime in July, but the sooner the better. The apartment does what it needs to, but it doesn't offer any privacy or comfort, just a place to sleep and work. No inspiration, no dreaming, just a temporary place to allow him and us to work without being in each others' way.

For the rest of today, we plan to relax and enjoy our accomplishments - we will take another swim, maybe watch some Hell's Kitchen, and we have plans to join a friend in the marina for drinks tonight - but not too late - gotta get up and do more work before the sun bakes us :-)
