Girls Get It Done - Apr 20, 2023

Yay! We got the fill pipe sorted and ready to connect! With lots of running around today, I was able to find an amazing machine shop (thank you Sam's Machine Shop!). He couldn't use the lathe to trim the pipe down as originally though (due to the bend, it doesn't fit in the machine that way), but he had some scrap aluminum and he made a beautiful reducer for me to take the pipe down to 1.5". Then he called his friend Zeb (thank you Zeb's metal crafts!) who does aluminum welding and he finished up the piece for me. Now I just need to get a couple more hose clamps for the topside of this piece and we are golden.

Aside from that, I headed out to Blackburn's to follow up on that fuel/water separator and see if they had any suggestions for me. They did have one that could replace it, but given all the circumstances, they recommended I try cleaning the existing one first. If for some reason that doesn't work, I can go buy that one, but it is a smaller micron filter, and with all the varnish in the tank it will get clogged super fast and will probably require several replacements. There is a larger filter for it, but it has been on backorder since February, so....

Off to the auto parts store I went, found some chem dip parts cleaner, and made my way back to the boat.

Since it was already pretty late from my running around, I decided not to stress about the other projects, but I did try to work it all out in my head to make sure I had all the parts. I pulled out the fuel pump and the new switch, figured out how those will go together. In doing so, I realized that the new switch will not support the 12G wire I bought, so that is item 1 tomorrow - get smaller gauge wire. (Number 2 is get the hose clamps for the fuel fill). Then I thought through the fuel venting and realized I would need a few more hose clamps for that project (we have an idea with a tee - so a couple more hose connections) - so that will be on the list for tomorrow as well. My hose clamps from Amazon arrived today, so I verified they would fit on the 3/8" hose and then decided to call it a day.

Overall, I would call it a huge success - while not a ton of progress, it was a load off my mind to have the fuel fill issue sorted out and looking amazing :-)
