I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas and that you all have great plans for ringing in the new year! Since we only have a camp stove on the boat, we couldn't really cook anything fun, so we started the day looking for restaurants that might be open (we tip really well when we go out on holidays ;-) ). We ended up deciding on Denny's after calling several that were not open, but when we pulled into the Denny's parking lot, we saw a Fuji Asian Sushi place that ALSO had its open light on :-)
So, we decided that sounded really good and had one of the best non traditional Christmas meals I have ever had. We will definitely have to go back and enjoy that again!
We still have not made our offshore jaunt yet. We were going to try last week, but the wind and the weather was not in our favor. We went out Saturday and it was pretty spicy sailing with all the gusts, and they were predicted to pick up overnight, so we decided not to anchor out and try again another day.
We ALMOST went out on Christmas day.... but it was just a little too cold for it to be enjoyable, and we didn't want to do 30-45 minutes of tear down and put back together to enjoy 60 minutes ish on the bay... maybe next year!
We did take a trip over the Houston Space Center - it was REALLY cool and we ended up getting a membership so we can go back and see more. If you are ever in the Houston area I recommend you make time for the space center - we also did the Mission Control tram tour, which was amazing.
We cut the visit to the space center short because we had also signed up for a road tip down to the little town of Port Isabel to see a boat (it was not a contender, but we had a great time on the road trip!) We are still keeping our eyes open and maybe something will happen in January ;-)
Other than that, I've been working on the job search and enjoying the holidays. Not a lot going on at this time of year, but I believe I will have a couple follow up interviews in January, so fingers crossed that I find my next challenge!
We are looking forward to New Year's Eve - we have been invited to hang out with our friends Bob and Sonja at their boat. Don't worry, we'll be crashing there (their marina is our old one, about 45 minutes from our current marina). They are a very neat couple and we always enjoy our time with them.
Til next time, Happy Holidays and Stay Derpy :-)
