Sunday started a little later than expected - we had a lot of fun at our friends Wes and Connie's boat ;-)
We decided to spend the day with Michael - Sydney was online, so his afternoon would be free - no more on call, but we wanted to get a little bit done before we left - so we decided to move the boat!
We had one of our marina friends help us with lines on the dock, but Bean took the boat out of the slip, did some circles while I flipped the four fenders and all the dock lines to the other side, and then beautifully pulled the boat into the slip - she really is a natural! (And thank you to Bill and Stephanie for the assist on dock!)
This was necessary so we can work on the non skid for the starboard side - with the boat pulled into the slip instead of backed in, we get on and off on the port side now. After that, we cleaned up a little, ordered some pizza bowls and headed off to see Michael - or so we thought! As we are pulling out of the marina parking lot, who should we see but the man himself :-) He had walked all the way to the marina to surprise us! So we picked him up, and drove off together to get our fun food.
We did decided to come back to the boat for Sunday night though as we wanted to get an early start on Monday. We got up on time, started cleaning the starboard side with the goal of completing the front half, but soon realized there were a few more questionable spots on that side. Where the roller furler hardware rubs against the deck there were quite a few nicks in the paint. This will be covered by the non-skid, but we wanted to lay down a primer layer first to make sure it is sealed and safe.
Since we decided to hold off on the painting, we instead prepped the whole starboard side - cleaned, sanded, and primed - so all we need to do now is tape and paint. Hopefully the forecasted rain will come through tonight so we can get started on it early tomorrow ::fingers crossed::
I also finally purchased the wood for the settee shelf for the new batteries - it is still in the car for now... After painting tomorrow, I'm hoping to take the foam and shape out the hull for the backside of the shelf, and then use that as a template to cut the wood. Michael and I sketched out a rough idea of what we want, now I need to make it a reality. First create the template, then cut the wood, paint it, and put it together. It has been a long time since I did any carpentry projects!
Now, I am off to bed so I can get up bright and early tomorrow for another non skid round.
