WooHoo! We made some real (ish) progress today ;-)
We managed to get all of the cans refilled and that lowered the tank enough that I was comfortable disconnecting the fuel fill line and the fuel return/vent line so we could remove the boards. The fill was easy, just a little hose, cut it off and I will buy a new one tomorrow to replace it. The return/vent was a little more difficult. After both Bean and I tried with the crescent wrench, and then again with the pipe wrench, with no budging, I tried googling solvents I could use to loosen it. Not finding much that looked like it would work without causing problems with the fuel, I reached out to the hubby to see if he had any suggestions. He reminded me of the tighten first, then loosen technique and it magically came off! Yay!
After that, we took the boards out, used a hacksaw to cut from the holes out so next time we don't need to disconnect everything in order to take them off, gave them a quick dab of paint to cover the fresh wood, and left them to dry
We had to wait for Tommy to get back to the marina today to re-empty the now full cans, so we were not able to fully empty the tank, but tomorrow is another day, and we did make progress
One of our other marina friends got back from an offsite job today, so we went out to dinner with him at one of the local pubs, and now we ready to relax and prepare for tomorrow.
Tomorrow starts with housing again - we have a couple leads on possible short term rentals, so wish us luck! Then back to the fuel projects, keep on keeping on!
